Job Summary
The primary responsibility of a Behavioral Health Intern is to assist Behavioral health Staff with a variety of therapeutic treatment and Case Management services.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists clinical staff in providing individual, family, and/or group psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults who have diagnosable mental, behavioral or emotional disorder that interferes with or limits quality of life including co-occurring substance use issues.
- Assists with new client intakes and assessments.
- Assists with the development of treatment plans, maintains weekly progress notes, and tracks progress toward therapeutic goals.
- Works collaboratively with other clinical staff.
- Affords assistance in the development and implementation of family support services and family events.
- Attends weekly staff meetings, clinical team meetings, and trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and accomplish project tasks.
- Ability to work as a team player.
Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or education.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License, appropriate insurance and use of own vehicle.
Working Conditions
- Non-Traditional work hours in the office.
- Working with consumers with a variety of behaviors, including aggression.
- May include working in other environments outside the office, such as in-home or school settings.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit, communicate verbally and in writing, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
- Close vision requirements due to computer work.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
- The employee has the potential to encounter unpredictable and aggressive consumers.
