About the role
The Riverside University Health System - Behavioral Health offers one paid internship opportunity with their Friday Night Live Program in Indio. This internship provides experience in youth development and leadership strategies, event planning, data entry systems, team building, and public speaking. Interns will gain firsthand experience working with youth, including those at risk for tobacco, alcohol, and drug use, and will assist in developing creative strategies to deter substance use. The program equips interns with skills to work with diverse youth populations. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and creative.
The in-person internship is based in Indio, offering a flexible work week of approximately 20 hours, accommodating academic obligations. The internship duration is one year.
Responsibilities
- Planning and implementation of events
- Creating workshop content
- Creating and executing presentations
- Entering data into State database
- Assisting staff with youth council meetings, school-based, and community-based meetings
Under supervision, interns assist and participate in professional work, gaining supervised experience in a specific vocation. Additional related duties may be required.
Requirements
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (proof of unofficial/official transcript required at application)
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within the past year) from an accredited college or university in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, or preparing to transfer to a Bachelor’s program
- Areas of study: Psychology, Sociology or other Behavioral Sciences, Arts or Humanities, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Information Technology, Computer Science, Physical or Natural Sciences, or similar fields
- Typing and computer literacy
- Willingness to work with youth (4th to 12th grade)
- Desire to engage creatively
- Ability to collaborate on a team
- Valid California Driver’s License
