Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive assessments to include risk assessment and establishes therapy treatment objectives.
• Administers individual, family, and group therapy sessions.
• Evaluates patient data; develops and implements treatment plans.
• Documents therapy observations and maintains records, adhering to confidentiality protocols.
• Evaluates patient progress and therapy intervention effectiveness.
• Provides referrals for patients within the agency and community.
• Works directly with patients, family members, physicians, and community providers to ensure collaborative and continuous care.
• Identifies and intervenes for suspected abuse, including sensitivity to age-specific concerns.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of the involuntary commitment process.
• Participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, providing clinical input.
• Formulates discharge plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team, the patient, and the family, ensuring outpatient appointments are scheduled upon inpatient discharge.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Demonstrate specialized knowledge and skills for effective clinical interventions with individuals, families, couples and groups.
• Knowledgeable in developing appropriate discharge plans that provide continuity of care based on the individual patient’s needs in collaboration with multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledgeable about community services and the ability to make appropriate referrals as needed.
• Knowledgeable about adequate safeguards for the private nature of the treatment relationship.
• Ability to provide culturally competent service delivery in accordance with the NASW Standards for Cultural competencies in Social Work Practice.
• Requires knowledge of the principles, laws, and practices of social work in a psychiatric hospital setting.
• Advanced clinical practice skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience as a clinical social worker in a psychiatric hospital setting.
• Experience should include individual, group, and family therapy and discharge planning in an acute care psychiatric setting.
• Post graduate experience in a psychiatric hospital setting.

Skills

• Knowledgeable about community services and the ability to make appropriate referrals as needed.
• Knowledgeable about adequate safeguards for the private nature of the treatment relationship.
• Ability to provide culturally competent service delivery in accordance with the NASW Standards for Cultural competencies in Social Work Practice.
