Behavioral Health Associate 1 PT - Weekend Evening Shift
About the role
Coachella Valley Behavioral Health is a newly established inpatient facility in Indio, California, offering clinically excellent treatment for adults dealing with mental health concerns and substance use disorders.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency related to patient safety and provide excellent customer services.
- Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure supervision is conducted at 15-minute intervals as needed.
- Document timely, accurate, and appropriate clinical information in the patient's medical record.
- Aid in maintaining a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for patients, significant others, and staff.
- Interact with patients, observe behaviors, and communicate significant observations to nursing staff.
- May oversee or assist patients with activities of daily living such as toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, meals, snacks, hydration, and changing bed linens.
- May obtain patient's vital signs, height, and weight as assigned and document in the patient's record.
- Facilitate patient educational-rehabilitative groups covering various topics like social skills, coping skills, anger management, and independent living skills.
- Engage patients in activities and interactions aimed at achieving treatment goals.
- Complete and maintain required documentation.
- Absorb and assist with follow-up and paperwork related to incidents and events within the facility.
- Provide transportation for patients or coordinate transportation with appropriate staff members.
- Display a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers.
- Address and resolve patient complaints effectively, prioritizing patient safety.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Six months or more experience working with the specific population of the facility preferred.
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
Skills
- Strong communication and empathy skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR.
- Effective time management and organization skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
