Behavioral Health Activity Tech

Responsibilities

• Carry out behavior modification plans, therapeutic interventions, and crisis intervention techniques, including de-escalation, as prescribed by professionals and ensure a safe, supportive environment
• Observe, record, and report patient behavior, progress, and symptoms to the treatment team
• Absorb and implement individualized treatment plans
• Facilitate therapeutic activities and group sessions
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as personal hygiene, grooming, and meals
• Conduct safety checks, ensure a secure environment, and manage potential emergencies
• Maintain accurate, detailed records of patient behavior and interactions
• Provide emotional support and facilitate group activities
• Facilitate educational sessions on coping skills

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED
• Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
• Must show current tuberculosis documentation
• Previous experience in a mental health, psychiatric, or residential care setting is highly preferred
• Strong interpersonal communication, patience, empathy, emotional stability, and the ability to work in high-stress, crisis-prone environments
• Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
