Job Responsibilities
- Implements plan of care interventions as established by Behavioral Health Care Team.
- Maintain a safe environment for the patient through situational awareness, crisis prevention strategies and plan of care-initiated interventions.
- Complies and promotes compliance with all behavioral health related policies and guidelines to protect patient, self, and others from harm.
- May perform/document components of safety monitoring and general care needs (behavior support interventions, eating, hydration, and/or elimination).
- Accurately documents data collected & behaviors observed on assigned patient in EMR, according to established time frames.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with behavioral and mental health patients.
- Makes behavior changes and employs crisis prevention and de-escalation strategies.
- May accompany patient to medical procedures to maintain therapeutic interventions and behavioral support.
- Participates in transfer of care; communicates any special considerations, care priorities, and support needs as appropriate.
- Maintains patients’ rights, including the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information.
- Performs other responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a healthcare setting OR Academic healthcare related courses
- Bachelor’s preferred
- Experience working in a mental health or behavioral health setting
- Psychology or healthcare related academic course or certifications
- Mental health technician certification
