About the role

The Behavior Technician Position (referred to as "Instructors" at FirstSteps) is a rewarding opportunity to teach children diagnosed with autism meaningful skills such as communication, socialization, self-care, and school readiness. You will work closely with teachers, parents, FirstSteps Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), and behavioral health/mental health specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Teach children diagnosed with autism meaningful skills including communication, socialization, self-care, and school readiness
  • Experience first-hand a child’s first words, first friend, first shoe tie, and much more
  • Work closely with and learn from teachers, parents, FirstSteps BCBAs, and behavioral health/ mental health specialists
  • Become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with all initial credentialing fees paid by FirstSteps in conjunction with our paid training program

Requirements

  • College enrollment or degree preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent with an interest in psychology / behavioral health / child development / mental health
  • Graduate students in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) may apply as Behavior Technicians and be eligible to receive clinical training and supervision hours toward BACB requirements, based on performance, role alignment, availability, and program needs

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of behavior analysis principles and techniques

Pay

New team members receive a clinical rate of $23 and $25 per hour depending on experience and are eligible for multiple wage increases throughout the year.
