About the role

We are seeking a Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) to join our growing nonprofit organization serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Westchester County. The ideal candidate will be passionate about behavioral health, clinical teamwork, and making a lasting difference.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee individualized Behavior Support Plans designed to promote positive outcomes and improve quality of life
  • Analyze behavioral data and trends to guide clinical recommendations, interventions, and program improvements
  • Provide hands-on coaching, training, and mentorship to Direct Support Professionals and program staff
  • Conduct observations and partner with leadership teams to ensure consistent, high-quality behavioral supports
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to strategic quality improvement initiatives
  • Support a culture of dignity, respect, accountability, and person-centered care throughout the organization

Requirements

  • Masters in the field of Psychology or related field
  • Board Certification in Behavioral Analysis at the Master's level is preferred
  • Post Masters experience in behavioral or clinical field; experience with persons with developmental disabilities highly preferred

Qualifications

  • Strong ability to analyze and communicate data clearly to both professionals and non-clinical staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Calm, supportive presence during behavioral crises, with appropriate supervision and direction
  • Openness to feedback and a commitment to continuous professional growth
  • Sound judgment when balancing individual needs, staff support, and agency policies
  • Willingness to work some late afternoons, early evenings, and occasional weekends
