About the Role
The Katherine Thomas High School program, serving students with special needs, is seeking to hire a full-time Behavior Program Specialist. This is an 11-month position to start as soon as possible. The specialist will work in cooperation with the Senior Social Worker, other high school administrators, and senior clinical staff to develop, implement, and monitor high school behavior management techniques.
Responsibilities
- Provide behavior intervention and behavior management training and feedback to all high school staff
- Collect and analyze data, and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and enforcement of pertinent policies and procedures
- Organize and update associated records and documentation
- Implement student discipline policies and plans
- Train and support staff in effective behavior management
- Maintain parent communication
- Collect, analyze, and provide behavior management data and statistics
- Collaborate with school social workers
- Work as part of the school's behavior management team
Requirements
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, counseling, social work, special education, or a closely related field
- At least 5 years of experience working in special education with students with learning disabilities and/or autism
- At least 2 years of experience implementing PBIS or other positive behavior intervention programs
- Additional experience with implementing bullying prevention programs and conducting staff training in behavior management techniques preferred
- Effective written and oral communication skills with positive interpersonal abilities
- Ability to develop and implement behavior intervention plans and classroom management strategies
- Ability to develop and provide training related to effective behavior management
- Skill in leading/facilitating group processes
- Highly collaborative with strong problem-solving and team-building skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, problem-solve, keep accurate records, analyze data, and develop positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
