About the Role

We are looking for a Behavioral Intervention Specialist to work with individuals, family members, family support staff, and a clinical supervisor on a Per Diem basis. The role involves assessing and developing behavior support plans to address behaviors that interfere with an individual’s daily functioning in the home and community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioral assessments and write functional behavior assessments and behavior support plans in collaboration with families.
  • Provide family members with relevant training individually or in groups, covering topics such as use of social stories, technology supports, positive behavior supports, and specific behavior support strategies.
  • Review behavior support plans and relevant data regularly and make changes as needed.
  • Act as a primary resource to families in understanding disabilities and positive behavioral support.
  • Model positive behavioral support in the home.
  • Perform direct observation of individuals as part of the behavioral assessment and behavior support plan development process.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with families, service providers, treatment providers, and team members to coordinate behavioral services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a clinical and/or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or related human services field.
  • Specialized training or experience in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • 3+ years of related experience (a Master’s Degree in a clinical and/or treatment field can replace years of experience requirements).
  • Proficiency in word processing, email, database software, Apple, and Google suite programs.
  • A valid NYS driver's license and a driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage.
  • Daily access to an automobile and a willingness to transport program participants.
