About the role
The Behavior Coach performs duties to ensure a safe learning environment, supports teachers with instruction and social-emotional activities, and trains staff on proper behavior management techniques.
Responsibilities
- Aids in appropriate, non-harmful interventions (as trained by the school) and escorts
- Provides procedural orientation to newly hired staff
- Affords support to teachers in various classroom activities
- Collects documentation and maintains files on every student regarding behavior (time-out dates, times, duration and specific behaviors exhibited, interventions utilized); documents holds used and reasons on incident report forms; and maintains records of student’s Time Out record for school year
- Provides training and leadership in behavior management techniques to the entire program site, keeping abreast of current trends and activities with regards to behavior management
- Provides daily living procedures, such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene as trained and may provide medically invasive procedures, such as tube feeding, catheterization, and suctioning, following universal precautions and as trained and directed
- Lifts and transports students using appropriate equipment and technique, according to District training
- Affords support and feedback to teacher(s)/supervisor(s) on individual students
- Communicates and coordinates with students and parents about routine educational issues
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Or relevant work experience is required
- One (1+) year of experience in behavior management and working with children is required
- Experience working in a behavioral health or educational environment is preferred
