Position Overview

The School Life Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the day-to-day student experience, school culture, and community engagement through the coordination of school events, student programs, and operational support. This role ensures that school life is well-organized, student-centered, and aligned with the mission, expectations, and policies of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance a positive school culture and student experience through active engagement and visibility throughout the school day.
  • Aid in the planning, coordination, and execution of school-wide events and activities, including but not limited to Open House/Meet the Teacher, Curriculum Nights, parent information meetings, student events (e.g., talent shows, dances, field days), graduation, and end-of-year celebrations.
  • Support the Dean of Operations in coordinating field trips, including logistics, communication, scheduling, and compliance with school policies and applicable regulations.
  • Lead and manage before and after care programming, ensuring activities are structured, safe, and developmentally appropriate.
  • Cook up and support student enrichment programs, clubs, and activities, including providing supervision, assisting with transitions, and offering homework support as needed.
  • Aid in planning and coordinating school-based fundraising activities, ensuring alignment with school priorities and student experience.
  • Recruit, organize, and manage school volunteers, including field trip chaperones, event volunteers, and classroom support volunteers, while providing clear communication and expectations.
  • Support daily school operations, including student supervision, carline (as needed), transitions, and event setup and breakdown.
  • Aid in coordinating school programs and activities such as picture day, student events, and special projects.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with staff, families, and school leadership.
  • Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of students during all school programs, activities, and transitions in accordance with school policies and applicable South Carolina regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and student-centered environment.
  • Support adherence to school expectations, routines, and procedures.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a school setting, youth programs, or student services preferred.
  • Knowledge of student supervision, school operations, and event coordination best practices.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple events and programs simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, structured, and student-centered environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and community members.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to communicate effectively;
  • Sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls;
  • Frequent reaching with hands and arms;
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Operates in a professional school environment;
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials;
  • Noise level is typically moderate, but can be higher during student-centered activities or events;
  • Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required.

This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
