Beekeeping Educator & Presenter
About the Role
Bees for Buildings is a program by Beewise, an ag-tech company that builds AI-automated BeeHomes housing multiple honeybee colonies. We partner with companies, schools, and organizations to place hives on their properties, creating healthier ecosystems, engaging communities, and supporting pollinators. This is a flexible, paid 1099 contractor role with three possible tracks:
- Presenter and Event Host (people-facing): Deliver live, interactive presentations about bees, pollination, and sustainability at the sites where our BeeHomes are placed. Audiences range from schoolchildren to corporate teams to community groups.
- Hive Maintenance (field-based, no public events required): Provide hands-on care and maintenance for our BeeHomes on a flexible, as-needed basis, including hive inspections, colony health checks, and occasional installation support.
- Both! Combine elements of both tracks.
Requirements
- Hands-on beekeeping experience is required. You must have owned and managed your own hives or maintained hives professionally for others.
- Comfortable working around live bee colonies.
- Reliable, professional, and self-directed.
- Based in or near the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Valid U.S. work authorization.
Presenter Track: Additional Strengths
- Experience teaching, presenting, or leading groups (e.g., educator, naturalist, guide, trainer).
- Ability to adapt your delivery to any audience, from kids to executives.
- Passion for bees, sustainability, or environmental science that comes through when you speak.
- Background in education, environmental programs, or science communication is a plus.
Benefits
- Flexible schedule: accept work that fits your availability, no minimum hours.
- Paid per visit and per project, with competitive rates.
- Local assignments whenever possible.
- Recurring seasonal work opportunities as we scale.
- We manage all client relationships and scheduling so you can focus on the bees.
- Join a growing national network of beekeeping and sustainability professionals.
Pay
Independent Contractor (1099) role with competitive pay based on services performed, location, and scope of work. Additional compensation available for installs, honey harvests, events, and specialty services.
Why This Role Matters
