Become a Trainee

About the Program

The Center for Health Incentives & Behavioral Economics (CHIBE) welcomes trainees affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania who are focusing on behavioral science research. This includes:

• PhD students
• Postdoctoral Fellows
• Residents/Fellows actively engaged in research or research training
• MD and Nursing students
• Masters students enrolled in MPH, MBDS, MSHP, or MHCI programs
• Visiting scholars

With funding from the National Institute on Aging, the Roybal Center distributes pilot funding for projects that translate ideas from behavioral economics into practice in "real world" settings, specifically testing interventions that reach middle-aged and elderly Americans at high risk for premature morbidity and mortality.

Pilot Program Aims

• Give research opportunities to junior faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students in behavioral economics
• Encourage interaction between affiliated researchers
• Build collaborations with new partner organizations that have access to populations and potential willingness to translate results from the research studies into practice

• Opportunity to submit an abstract to present at CHIBE’s annual Roybal Retreat (hosted with the PAIR Center) as well as CHIBE’s annual Behavioral Science and Health Symposium

• Invitations to our research seminar series and special events
• Access to communication resources, including dissemination of publications and media articles on CHIBE’s channels, such as @PennCHIBE

Eligibility

• Involved in research that uses principles from behavioral economics
• Have a CHIBE-affiliated faculty member as your mentor
