Beauty Stylist - Montgomery Mall

Nordstrom Beauty Stylists drive beauty sales across all brands by maximizing demonstration and artistry techniques. The primary focus is to sell the customer what is right for them, leveraging product passion and expertise in a commissioned sales environment to provide exceptional one-on-one customer service.

Responsibilities

• Set and achieve sales goals for both in-store and digital selling, using tools like text and social media
• Stay current with industry trends and product knowledge to maintain expertise
• Initiate service consultations by asking open-ended questions to understand customer preferences and needs
• Build lasting customer relationships through follow-ups, product suggestions, and event invitations
• Grow sales via appointment-based selling, technology use, and opening new Nordstrom Rewards accounts
• Act as an entrepreneur by creating in-store events and networking within the community
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to identify key products and focuses

Requirements

• 1+ years of Beauty industry experience
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organization and follow-through
• High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements

• Continuous movement for 6-8 hours per shift, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching to handle merchandise and assist customers
• Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
• Handling bulky or awkwardly shaped items, including reaching above the head
• Regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds

Pay

Maryland: $23.00–$23.90 hourly. Commission varies by merchandise sold: 3%–14.5% for apparel, shoes, and accessories; 3% for Beauty and Men’s Fragrance. Performance-based incentives/bonuses may also apply.
