About the role
As a Beauty Counter Manager in the Nordstrom Beauty Department, you’ll create personalized beauty experiences for customers while maximizing sales for your assigned beauty brand. This dual role blends sales and education in a commissioned environment. You’ll build a customer following both in-store and digitally, staying current with beauty trends and leveraging technology to drive results.
Responsibilities
- Conduct makeup applications, skincare analyses, and recommend products based on customers’ beauty goals.
- Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers.
- Set and achieve personal and counter sales goals using in-store and digital selling tools (e.g., text, social media).
- Manage scheduling and execution of vendor events and promotions.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to maximize business results.
- Keep the department customer-ready through organization and cleanliness.
- Stay updated on beauty trends, products, and industry knowledge through Nordstrom and luxury brand partner trainings.
- Process sales, refunds, exchanges, and build customer loyalty by opening new Nordstrom Rewards program accounts.
Requirements
- Passion for customer service and beauty, including trends, makeup application, and skincare.

Physical Requirements
- Continuous movement for 6-8 hours per shift, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching to handle merchandise and assist customers.
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Handling bulky or awkwardly shaped items, including reaching above the head.
- Regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $29.65 - $30.85, dependent on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is commission-based, with Beauty and Men’s Fragrance sales typically earning a 3% commission. Apparel, shoes, and accessories sales commissions range from 3% to 14.5%. Performance-based incentives or bonuses may also apply.
