About the role
As a Beauty Counter Manager in the Nordstrom Beauty Department, you’ll create personalized beauty experiences for customers while maximizing sales for your assigned beauty brand. This dual role blends sales and education in a commissioned environment. You’ll build a customer following both in-store and digitally, collaborating with a passionate team that values your unique skills.
Responsibilities
- Conduct makeup applications, skincare analyses, and recommend products based on customers’ beauty goals.
- Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers.
- Set and achieve personal and counter sales goals using in-store and digital selling tools (including text and social media).
- Manage the scheduling and execution of vendor events and promotions.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to maximize business results.
- Keep the department customer-ready through organization and cleanliness.
- Stay updated on the latest beauty trends, products, and industry knowledge through trainings provided by Nordstrom and luxury brand partners.
- Manage sales, refunds, exchanges, and build customer loyalty by opening new Nordstrom Rewards program accounts.
Requirements
- Passion for customer service and beauty, including trends, makeup application, and skincare.

- Empathy and respect for all customers, providing a supportive environment during makeup and skincare application.
- Strong multitasking, organization, and follow-through skills.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements
- Continuous movement for 6-8 hours per shift, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching to handle merchandise and assist customers.
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Handle bulky and awkwardly shaped items, including reaching above the head.
- Regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $20.75 - $21.55, dependent on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Commission varies by merchandise sold: 3% to 14.5% for apparel, shoes, and accessories; 3% for Beauty and Men’s Fragrance. Performance-based incentives/bonuses may also apply.
