About the role

Miller Industries is seeking a 1st Shift Beam Line/Angle Line/Tube Laser Operator at our south location in Fenton, Michigan. The schedule is 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, with overtime as required for production on weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and run beam line and angle line equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of operational and adjustment differences for various alloys and material gauges.
  • Perform routine machine diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Download programs and nesting configurations.
  • Verify measurements of cut material.
  • Accurately count parts as needed.
  • Manage remnant inventory, scrap, and organization for efficient operation.
  • Move material to the next operation or storage area using an overhead crane.
  • Follow safe working practices, wear PPE, and prioritize safety.
  • Perform work within acceptable quality and productivity standards.
  • Apply a basic understanding of blueprints and tolerances related to assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a neat and organized work area, including cleanup of tooling, machinery, and workspace after each job.
  • Notify direct supervisor of any damaged or malfunctioning equipment or tooling.
  • Maintain accurate records of time and quantities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience with beam line, angle line equipment, or similar CNC equipment preferred.
  • Understands operation of robotics and importing of solid model files.
  • Ability to recognize and follow production priorities.
  • Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes as needed.
  • Able to read and comprehend material nesting.
  • Team player who can also perform without supervision.

Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to perform duties.
  • Frequently lift and move 10-50 pounds.
  • Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, and operate objects, tools, and controls.
