As a Night Stocker, you'll become part of a highly-functioning team in the Grocery or Drug Store department, working to meet common goals and sharing the nighttime work lifestyle. You'll learn about multiple products and departments across the store, building skills that can lead to other roles and a potential career at H-E-B.
Responsibilities
- Stock shelves and refill displays
- Load, unload, and move heavy, bulky products; may unload trucks
- Condition shelves and products
- Learn and apply product knowledge, including rotation dates and shelf/label information, to meet A+ Standards
- Keep department clean and well-organized (including back room and shelves)
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and leader direction
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations for product food safety and sanitation
- Work efficiently with a team attitude; maintain productivity standards
- Accept and apply constructive feedback to future tasks
- May coach or train other Stockers
- Operate with a team mindset, working cross-functionally within the store and building relationships across departments
- Learn and model customer service and hospitality for customers and store partners
- Assist customers in locating products and answering product questions
Requirements
Must be 18 years or older.
- Experience stocking and in customer service (preferred)
- Experience working in a physically demanding job is a plus
- Understanding of SOPs related to emergency procedures and proper stocking
- Strong communication, reading, and writing skills
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Customer service skills and a service mentality
- Ability to perform repetitive, physical tasks, including heavy lifting
- Ability to think quickly and work with agility
- Ability to work as part of a team to meet nightly goals
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, shift focus between tasks, and pay close attention to detail
- Ability to apply personal discipline to SOPs and leader direction
- Ability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Work in a fast-paced, demanding store environment while paying close attention to detail. Perform the following physical tasks based on your department:
Grocery
- Constantly (5.5+ hours per 8-hour day): Reach at waist, grasp
- Frequently (2.5 - 5.5 hours per 8-hour day): Stand, walk, bend
- Occasionally (0 - 2.5 hours per 8-hour day): Reach at overhead, shoulder, knee, or floor; stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, pivot, twist, push/pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements
- Occasional exposure to cold, loud noise, ambient temperatures, and wet conditions
- Demonstrate the ability to lift 50 lbs and manage in excess of 100 lbs
Drugstore
- Constantly: Reach at waist, grasp
- Frequently: Stand, walk
- Occasionally: Reach at overhead, shoulder, knee, or floor; bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, pivot, twist, push/pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements
- Occasional exposure to loud noise, ambient temperatures, and wet conditions
- Demonstrate the ability to lift 66 lbs and manage in excess of 50 lbs
Dairy
- Constantly: Reach at waist, grasp; exposed to cold temperatures
- Frequently: Stand, walk, bend
- Occasionally: Reach at overhead, shoulder, knee, or floor; stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, pivot, twist, push/pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements
- Occasional exposure to loud noise, ambient temperatures, and wet conditions
- Demonstrate the ability to lift 86 lbs and manage in excess of 100 lbs
Frozen
- Constantly: Reach at waist, grasp; exposed to cold temperatures
- Frequently: Stand, walk
- Occasionally: Reach at overhead, shoulder, knee, or floor; bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, pivot, twist, push/pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements
- Occasional exposure to loud noise, ambient temperatures, and wet conditions
- Demonstrate the ability to lift 60 lbs and manage in excess of 100 lbs
General Merchandise
- Constantly: Reach at waist, grasp
- Frequently: Stand, walk, bend
- Occasionally: Reach at overhead, shoulder, knee, or floor; stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, climb ladder, pivot, twist, push/pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements
- Occasional exposure to loud noise, ambient temperatures, and wet conditions
- Demonstrate the ability to lift 60 lbs and manage in excess of 60 lbs
Partners must never lift beyond their own safe lifting limit. If an item is too heavy, break it down into lighter components or ask for assistance. Forklift and power jack training will be provided upon hire.
