The Opportunity
Position: NAM BESS Commissioning Leader
Business: GE Vernova Power Conversion and Storage
Unit: North America
Function: Field Service
Band: SPB3
Reports To: NAM Projects and Services Leader
FLSA Status: Exempt
Travel: Up to 50% (including on short notice)
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage all commissioning schedules across North America, ensuring contractual objectives are consistently met
- Partner closely with project management teams to align commissioning plans across the full project portfolio
- Develop and maintain executive-level dashboards tracking progress, key metrics, and emerging issues
- Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing team of GE Vernova personnel and third-party contractors
- Collaborate with resource managers to proactively scale commissioning capacity to meet project demand
- Assign site teams strategically based on project complexity, technical requirements, and contract obligations
- Ensure adherence to quality, EHS, and schedule standards
- Lead customer and constructor meetings, develop field execution strategies, site staffing plans, and tender documents
- Proactively identify risks, establish contingency plans, and define trigger events and mitigation responsibilities
- Identify performance issues quickly and provide decisive leadership to resolve them and ensure project success
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant energy storage or industrial construction industry experience
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including on short notice
Bonus points if you have
- Proven track record of executing complex commissioning or field service assignments with a high degree of independence and creative problem-solving
- Deep technical knowledge in PV and/or BESS installation and commissioning
- Demonstrated leadership and management success in a customer-facing, field service environment
- Experience managing subcontractors and administering construction contracts
- Solid background in project management and field operations process discipline
- Leadership qualities that align with the GE Vernova Way
- Proficiency in MS Office applications; SAP experience strongly preferred

Work Environment
This role involves regular work at active construction-type sites. Employees may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, and elevated noise levels.
