Batchmaker - Day Shift

This position will pre-batch, incorporate, and blend raw materials following detailed processing instructions to create batches of industrial or architectural caulk. The incumbent is responsible for the compositional correctness of the batch.

Schedule

Day Shift: 5:30am - 5:30pm
Rotating Weekly Schedule:
48-hour week (Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday)
36-hour week (Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday)

This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus under the Company’s applicable plans.

The Company conducts a criminal history review for this role to protect its operations, staff, and reputation.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate mixing/grinding equipment (high-speed dispersers, chemical mixers, Schold, and Meyers) on upper and lower mezzanines and the color/clear mixing floor
• Follow all manufacturing instructions on batch slips, including first-mix approval percentages
• Accurately measure, weigh, and add raw materials to mixing/grinding equipment
• Check all pre-batched raw materials for availability and accuracy prior to starting the batch
• Communicate pre-batch status to the next shift mixer(s)
• Record raw material lot numbers and check off materials as they are added
• Recognize unusual or improper conditions and notify the supervisor
• Record accurate mix/grind times
• Train new and current employees
• Write and update job procedures in ISO 9000 format
• Maintain housekeeping in mixing areas, including restocking raw materials per planned max/min quantities
• Perform color mixing functions, document, and track rework of color batches to develop a history for future process corrections
• Participate in continuous improvement teams

Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for an employment work visa now or in the future
• Minimum of one (1) year of work experience mixing or blending raw materials and making a product in an industrial batch process

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one (1) year of experience working in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility
• At least one (1) year of experience monitoring gauges, dials, or other machinery indicators to ensure proper operation
• At least one (1) year of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
• At least one (1) year of experience monitoring the quality of raw materials and/or finished goods
• At least one (1) year of experience using material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollies, conveyor belts)
