About the role

The Batching Blending Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and compliant processing and batching of products. This position oversees the execution of these processes and ensures adherence to health and safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and food quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and ensure compliance to all health and safety policies/procedures, GMPs, and wear required PPE.
  • Lead and direct the work of other employees.
  • Have authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, or disciplinary actions.
  • Work with management to ensure products are staged and batched according to the production schedule.
  • Mix batches, combine ingredients according to established instructions and SAP.
  • Ensure compliance with pre-weigh procedures.
  • Ensure proper flow of cold storage ingredients and release approved batches to lines for production.
  • Assist with new batch startups as needed, including unloading sugar and alcohol trucks and completing paperwork.
  • May require material and ingredient inventories as needed.
  • Maintain proper paperwork for all manufactured batches.
  • Analyze and adjust production processes to minimize material waste.
  • Communicate with management about any issues or corrections to be made regarding batches or production schedules.
  • Stop any questionable production in terms of food safety and alert a member of the management team.
  • Learn and assist in the CIP/COP program.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and daily/weekly preventive maintenance.
  • Perform special cleaning duties as needed.
  • Responsible for proper training of employees.
  • Must pass forklift certification program.
  • Able to read and understand metric system.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and interpret measurements.
  • Background in processing batches.
  • Understanding of quality improvement, increasing efficiencies, improving yields, and eliminating out-of-specification or damaged product.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and SAP preferred.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, adaptable to change.
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Familiarity with ISO, Six Sigma, GMP, and other relevant standards and regulations.
  • Understanding of food safety and security requirements.
  • Must pass forklift certification program.
  • Able to read and understand metric system.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Undergraduate degree in Food Science or related discipline or field preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment, preferably in the food/beverage industry with a blending/batching background.
  • Knowledge of food safety and security standards, and governmental regulations relating to the food/beverage industry.
