About the role
The Essex Rebels teams compete in professional leagues and BUCS Premier Division, with the Basketball Performance Coach primarily focusing on sporting performance outcomes while also contributing to the broader basketball ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement training programs for the elite women’s basketball team
- Provide leadership and mentorship for the wider basketball activities at the University of Essex
- Collaborate with academic staff to ensure the integration of sport and education for student-athletes
- Engage with the local and wider communities through gamedays and other events
- Support the development of community engagement initiatives and improve lives through basketball
Requirements
- Proven experience as a basketball coach at a high level
- Experience working with student-athletes and supporting their academic and athletic goals
- Strong understanding of the principles of coaching and athlete development
- Ability to work effectively within a collegiate setting and engage with diverse stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience at a competitive level
- Knowledge of NCAA or similar regulations applicable to collegiate athletics
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
