Basic Skills Math Teacher

About the role

The Basic Skills Teacher at Roebling Elementary School will provide targeted small-group and individualized math instruction to support students in developing number sense, math fluency, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding. The position requires a strong knowledge of math content, including number sense, operations, fluency, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding, as well as experience providing math intervention, basic skills instruction, or small-group support.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted small-group and individualized math instruction
• Support students in developing number sense, math fluency, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding
• Use assessment data to identify student needs and monitor progress
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, and administrators
• Implement research-based math strategies and interventions
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Communicate student growth and concerns with staff and families, as needed
• Create a positive learning environment where students build confidence in math

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience teaching mathematics
• Strong knowledge of math content, including number sense, operations, fluency, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding
• Experience providing math intervention, basic skills instruction, or small-group support
• Ability to use assessment data to identify skill gaps, plan targeted instruction, and monitor student progress
• Knowledge of RTI/MTSS and evidence-based math intervention strategies

Preferred Skills

• Ability to analyze data and adjust instruction based on student needs
• Strong understanding of foundational math development
• Experience supporting students with varied learning needs
• Ability to make math accessible, engaging, and connected to grade-level standards
• Experience co-teaching, modeling strategies, and supporting students within the general education classroom
• Experience planning targeted supports, interventions, and accommodations based on student needs
