About the role
The BASE Building Attendant plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at the BASE Community Center. As the eyes and ears of the facility, this position helps ensure the building meets the expectations of passholders and community members by supporting daily operations, preparing spaces for programs and events, and assisting the BASE team with day-to-day facility needs.
Requirements
- Housekeeping and janitorial experience highly recommended.
- Customer service experience is highly valued.
- Computer proficiency including email communication, Microsoft Word, Excel, digital photo downloading and sharing, database management, and ability to learn other software as needed.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Climbing experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision in field and office environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with people of diverse interests and personalities.
- Valid driver’s license and good/clean driving record.
- Ability to keep neat and accurate records and reports with great attention to detail.
- Must pass a background check.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in variable weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
- Ability to work in a moderately noisy environment.
- Must be able to listen, hear, and talk in the English language.
- Frequent standing, walking, or running during the workday or for long periods of time.
- Occasional climbing or balancing.
- Frequent lifting of a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance.
- Occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds with assistance from another team member or mechanical aid (e.g., hand cart).
Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of the BASE facility.
- Assist with room setup and changes based on scheduled programs and classes.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs to inspect the building for safety, cleanliness, and preventative maintenance needs.
- Assist maintenance staff with snow removal at building entrances during winter conditions.
- Replace lights and adjust window shades or blinds as needed.
- Clean air vents and report maintenance concerns.
- Support the BASE Building Manager and BASE Operations Manager with additional operational needs.
Custodial Duties
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, urinals, and toilets.
- Replenish restroom and common area supplies.
- Clean meeting rooms and shared spaces, including fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, strip, wax, and polish floors as needed.
- Wash windows, walls, desks, and countertops.
- Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
- Empty and sanitize waste receptacles.
- Maintain and properly store custodial equipment and cleaning supplies.
- Safely handle cleaning chemicals and facility equipment.
- Perform additional cleaning or maintenance duties as assigned.
Safety & Security
- Regularly inspect the facility to maintain safety and cleanliness standards.
- Check and secure all building doors at the end of each shift.
- Report suspicious activity immediately to the BASE Building Manager or Operations Manager.
- Participate in required safety trainings, including CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
Program & Event Support
- Assist with setup and teardown for programs, classes, and events (e.g., board meetings, yoga, cycling classes).
- Inspect program equipment and report damages or maintenance needs to supervisors.
- Interact professionally and respectfully with staff, passholders, and visitors.
Schedule
Flexible with scheduling and available to work operational hours of BASE, which may include days, evenings, and weekends.
