About the role

The Building Automation Systems (BAS) Project Manager at ModernControls is responsible for overseeing and managing BAS projects from inception to completion. This role requires a blend of project management expertise and functional BAS knowledge to support design, integration, and implementation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and related documents to determine project scope and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying time-sensitive installation needs.
  • Cook up procurement of necessary materials and supplies.
  • Conduct project cost reviews and manage budgets to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Track project progress, address potential risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Cook up and oversee subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project requirements.
  • Pursue project-specific change orders.
  • Manage project-related documentation, including submittals, as-builts, commissioning reports, and close-out documents.
  • Drive full safety compliance with all team members – safety is #1!
  • Interface with customer, maintain relationship, and keep informed of all activities pertaining to project delivery.
  • Ensure the field has all tools and required documents (permits, etc) to deliver World Class results to EVERY customer!

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) and/or HVAC controls.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Experience managing projects ranging from $20K to $5M.
  • A strong understanding of BAS design, installation, and commissioning processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and control diagrams.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical theory, and integration of multiple vendor systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with National Electrical Code and industry standards.
