About the role
The Building Automation Systems (BAS) Project Manager at ModernControls is responsible for overseeing and managing BAS projects from inception to completion. This role requires a blend of project management expertise and functional BAS knowledge to support design, integration, and implementation activities.
Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, drawings, and related documents to determine project scope and objectives.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying time-sensitive installation needs.
- Cook up procurement of necessary materials and supplies.
- Conduct project cost reviews and manage budgets to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Track project progress, address potential risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Cook up and oversee subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project requirements.
- Pursue project-specific change orders.
- Manage project-related documentation, including submittals, as-builts, commissioning reports, and close-out documents.
- Drive full safety compliance with all team members – safety is #1!
- Interface with customer, maintain relationship, and keep informed of all activities pertaining to project delivery.
- Ensure the field has all tools and required documents (permits, etc) to deliver World Class results to EVERY customer!
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) and/or HVAC controls.
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Experience managing projects ranging from $20K to $5M.
- A strong understanding of BAS design, installation, and commissioning processes.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and control diagrams.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical theory, and integration of multiple vendor systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and project management tools.
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code and industry standards.
