About the role

The FM2 BAS Integrator is responsible for software programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation for all types of HVAC control systems. This role includes building automation system commissioning, training, and technical support for facility operators, as well as facilitating and supporting the integration of multiple facility systems. The integrator will work with communication protocols including BACnet MS/TP & IP, Echelon, Modbus, and Zigbee.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software for HVAC control systems and building automation systems (BAS).
  • Perform BAS commissioning, training, and technical support for facility operators.
  • Facilitate and support the integration of multiple facility systems using protocols such as BACnet MS/TP & IP, Echelon, Modbus, and Zigbee.
  • Perform functional checks of mechanical systems and adjust BAS programs.
  • Understand and develop scope of work for projects.
  • Collect and research data; identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Manage customer service situations, respond promptly to customer needs, and solicit feedback to improve service.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively in both oral and written formats.
  • Work collaboratively in team settings and contribute to a positive team spirit.
  • Exhibit leadership by inspiring and motivating others, and influencing actions and opinions.
  • Promote quality management, accuracy, and thoroughness in all tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or greater.
  • Experience in installation, commissioning, and interoperability of systems, or equivalent.
  • HVAC electrical troubleshooting experience, or equivalent.
  • Tridium Niagara AX/N4 certification, or equivalent.
  • Experience with BAS advanced applications.
  • Experience with IT networks.

Skills

  • BAS Protocols: Develops an understanding of BAS communication protocols.
  • Electrical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Ohm’s Law and electrical circuits.
  • Blueprints: Understands basic concepts of blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • HVAC Systems: Basic understanding of HVAC systems and components.
  • Hydronic Systems: Understands basics of chilled, condenser, and hot water systems.
  • Air Side Systems: Understands basics of variable and constant volume air flows.
  • Certifications: Possesses Siemens, Honeywell, and/or Trane BAS certifications.
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFD): Understands concepts of VFDs and ability to perform operational function checks.
  • Test and Balance: Understands basic concepts of Test and Balance procedures.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office products and BAS engineering software; strong understanding of IT networks and protocols.
  • Valves & Actuators: Ability to identify, size, and create valve and actuator schedules.
  • Building Automation Systems: Ability to download and adjust BAS programs.
  • IT Networks: Understands basics of IT networks, including networking and configuration of systems.
  • Design Software: Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Control Signals: Understands types and capabilities of differing control signals.
  • Analytical: Collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions.
  • Technical Skills: Assesses strengths and weaknesses; pursues training and development opportunities; shares expertise with others.
