Bartender, Part Time

About the Role

The primary responsibility of the Bartender is to oversee all aspects of the bar, from preparation to service, and to ensure that supplies and stock are at sufficient levels to accommodate business demands during their shift. They also provide guidance to the Apprentice Bartender, mix and serve drinks to customers, and account for all stock and supplies used.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ordered drinks with proper portions and ingredients, such as wine, liquor, and related bar service, for guests at assigned stations.
• Mix drinks according to prescribed recipes; keep the station stocked with all liquor, glasses, and accessories necessary.
• Account for all beginning cash register bank, all cash, complimentary drinks, and charge receipts.
• Operate a cash register, ring up the correct amount, and provide the correct change to guests or servers.
• Possess a keen sense of timing and discreetly adjust the pace of service as necessary.
• Be resourceful with beverages, fruit, and supplies to maintain low beverage costs.
• Set up service items at the assigned bar.
• Inventory supplies at the bar at the beginning of the shift and requisition additional items as needed.
• Clean any spillage at the bar throughout the shift.
• Take and serve cocktail orders.
• Accept payment for cocktails as required.
• Count down register drawers and complete summaries.
• Log stock used during the shift.
• Maintain the appropriate appearance of the bar in accordance with county health and department standards.
• Ensure that all service items and stock are prepared for the shift.
• Remain attentive to the needs and requests of customers and treat them with courtesy and respect.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures.
• Maintain appropriate grooming and wear the provided uniform.
• Perform any additional related duties as requested.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age.
• 1 year of prior bartending experience.
• Ability to interact with customers, the public, and co-workers.
• Ability to accurately count money and provide change.
• Schedule flexibility, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods.
• Ability to perform reaching and stooping motions repeatedly.
• Visual ability to accurately measure ingredients for mixing drinks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment involving constant public interaction.
• Requires standing, walking, and lifting a minimum of 20 lbs repeatedly.
• Must be able to handle intoxicated guests professionally.
• Must be able to tolerate secondary tobacco smoke.
• Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of specialized bartending school.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
• Must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel, and balance in varying work areas, including confined spaces.

Working Conditions

Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as noise, dust, and smoke.
