Bartender - Part Time

Dayton Convention Center (DCC) is the region's premier mid-sized event facility located in downtown Dayton. With 150,000 sq. ft. of space, including 77,000 sq. ft. of column-free exhibition space and 22 meeting rooms, DCC is undergoing a major renovation to reinforce its status as the venue of choice for the region.

About the role

The Bartender stocks, prepares, and serves alcoholic drinks to patrons at bars, concession stands, and beer trailers for catered and non-catered events. This is a part-time position with hours driven by the event schedule.

Responsibilities

• Report to work at assigned time in proper uniform
• Read Banquet Event Order (BEO) and complete bar set-up
• Set bar(s) in assigned area correctly and uniformly
• Keep station neat and clean while servicing guests per established policies and procedures
• Properly account for all bar stock on bar sheets, including opening and closing inventory and recording waste/spoilage
• Monitor, control, and restock bar stock in liquor control rooms
• Greet and serve guests following beverage service policies/procedures
• Properly identify patrons’ legal drinking age in accordance with Ohio laws
• Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in prescribed measures
• Correctly perform cash handling procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must possess a valid certificate of completion of Ohio ASK (Alcohol Server Knowledge) program training courses
• Must pass a background check and credit screening for cash handling purposes
• Some food service experience is desired
• Ability to accurately count and handle money
• Knowledge of basic food preparation and safe food handling practices
• Knowledge of alcohol service and mixing drinks
• Able to work and focus in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow directions, adapt to constant change, and effectively perform the work
• Can work well with others in a team environment and work independently
• Cheerful outlook and neat appearance
• Must speak and understand English
• Understanding of basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements

Skills

• Stooping, lifting, walking, and standing for prolonged periods of time
• Must be able to lift 30 lbs

Working Attire

Professional server attire is required for event days: black button-down shirt, black pants (no holes), black socks or stockings, and black non-slip shoes. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be worn as requirements dictate.
