Bartender-FT-Saint Cecilia
About the Role
A Bartender at Hotel Saint Cecilia will mix and serve drinks to patrons (directly or through wait staff), serve Bar patrons and items from the bar menu, create bar menu items, and handle all food preparation associated with Bar service. This role requires excellent communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All employees are expected to greet guests warmly, making each feel valued, and uphold the company’s culture, values, and reputation.
About the Organization
The lush grounds of Hotel Saint Cecilia offer a secluded hideaway in the heart of Austin. Built in 1888, the original Victorian home is centered around a majestic oak tree. Fully restored with the addition of the iconic SOUL sign in 2009, the hotel is a private sanctuary tucked away off South Congress.
Responsibilities
- Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.
- Mix ingredients to prepare and garnish cocktails and other beverages according to Bunkhouse standards.
- Serve snacks or food items to customers as requested or submit orders to the Kitchen.
- Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
- Arrange bottles and glasses to create attractive displays.
- Help plan and organize the menu and operations of the Cocktail Lounge or Bar.
- Ensure immediate response to guest comments and concerns, and inform supervisors to implement corrective measures when necessary.
- Collect payment for all orders taken.
- Check customer identification to verify age requirements for alcohol purchases.
- Balance cash receipts.
- Limit problems and liability related to excessive drinking by persuading customers to stop or arranging transportation for intoxicated patrons.
- Order or requisition liquors and supplies.
- Ask disruptive customers to leave when necessary.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to meet operational demands and exceed customer expectations.
Requirements
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED); College Degree preferred.
- Six (6) months of related experience in hospitality or the service industry.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace.
