Bartender

About the role

The Bartender serves as the team leader for the bar staff, leading by example in excellent customer service, extensive knowledge of food and beverage pairings, and flawless beverage creation. The Senior Bartender partners with Food and Beverage Leadership to oversee efficient operations of bar locations, contributing to the Discovery Land Company experience for members and guests.

Responsibilities

• Oversee bar staff to ensure exceptional service and communication with members, guests, and team members.
• Greet all guests and members politely and promptly, anticipating needs to enhance their experience.
• Partner with Food & Beverage and Culinary Leadership to create beverage pairings and outstanding experiences.
• Supervise and train bar staff on SOPs, including drink preparation, food handling, POS order entry, and bar setup/breakdown.
• Oversee bar inventories, assist with ordering supplies, and ensure proper stocking.
• Execute exceptional craft cocktails, follow recipes for syrups and house-made ingredients, and serve beverages to company standards.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of all beverages and ingredients, making recommendations based on preferences or food pairings.
• Maintain thorough understanding of menu items, daily specials, and attentiveness to food allergies or special requests.
• Enter transactions accurately into the POS system, issue checks, and close sales according to policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar and storage areas, complete daily procedures, monitor perishable items, and adhere to food safety standards.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven leadership skills in Food and Beverage operations at a high-end or luxury resort, restaurant, or private club.
• Two to three years of bartending experience, preferably in a fast-paced, luxury environment.
• Knowledge of HACCP and local food safety standards; State Food Safety Certificate required or obtainable.
• Robust knowledge of wines and beverages.
• Passion for trends in the liquor community and creativity in developing new drinks or menu items.
• Extraordinary attention to detail, quality, and service.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; long hours may be required.
• Ability to work in a team environment and stay calm during busy periods.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including standing, walking, and moving for over eight hours, and lifting/carrying items over fifty pounds.

The company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate for this role is $28-$32, based on applicable experience and location.
