Bartender

About the role

We’re looking for a bartender or mixologist who loves getting creative with unique ingredients and perfecting every pour. Whether you prefer wine, beer, or cocktails, you’ll keep our guests refreshed and coming back for more.

The Bartolotta Restaurants is a nationally recognized, family-run restaurant and catering organization co-founded by restaurateur Joe Bartolotta and two-time James Beard Award-winning Chef Paul Bartolotta. Since 1993, we’ve grown to become the premier culinary brand in the Greater Milwaukee region, offering first-class service and cuisine across 18 one-of-a-kind restaurants and catering facilities. We give back to our community through Care-a-lotta, a charitable program supporting numerous nonprofit organizations throughout Milwaukee.

Responsibilities

• Receive orders from patrons or waitstaff.
• Prepare and serve liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic beverages as ordered.
• Ensure fruit and other garnishes are prepared ahead of the bar opening.
• Maintain bar spaces, keeping them clean and organized.
• Attractively display glasses, liquor, and other bar items for guest appeal.
• Collect payments from guests for drinks served.
• Verify customers are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs.
• Use judgment and discretion to refuse service to intoxicated or disruptive patrons.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of drink preparation and service.
• Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and presentation skills with a focus on customer service.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly or argumentative patrons.
• Ability to learn Point of Sale systems and software.
• Completion of mixology, barkeeping, or related training required.
• At least one year of related experience preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years or older to serve alcoholic drinks.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
• Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds at a time.
• Ability to complete orders quickly and accurately.
