About Our Property

The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center is a magnificent and storied hotel nestled in the heart of Roanoke, Virginia. Built in 1882, the Tudor-style hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of the International Association of Conference Centers. Responsibilities

• Greet guests as they arrive or move about the bar area
• Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar daily
• Guide guests on their beverage journey through descriptive selling of the menu
• Be accurate in order taking, confirming all special requests
• Understand the details of the bar to enhance guest conversations
• Work collaboratively with other restaurant servers and kitchen/bar staff
• Assist guests who have concerns to guide them to a resolution that leaves them happy
• Finalize the experience through timely and accurate bill presentation
• Requisition and stock all beer, wine, and spirits
• Maintain stock, cut, and store all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality
• Mix, garnish, and present drinks following standard ingredient recipes and practice portion control
• Input orders into a register at the point of sale and create a check for each guest
• Lock up and store all beverages, food, and other equipment items, deposit cash drops, and secure the bank

Requirements

• Engaging and welcoming personality
• Current bartender’s certification or appropriate license
• Knowledgeable in the latest trends around mixology
• Descriptive and sales-oriented
• 2-4 years of bartender experience
• Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
• Excellent communication skills

Pay

$5.75 per hour (base pay). Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific office location.
