About the Role

Join our team at Little Clam, a modern New England coastal restaurant located within our boutique hotel, Wayfinder Newport. Little Clam offers an immersive culinary experience that celebrates the freshness and bounty of local seafood and produce. Our menu showcases the region's rich culinary heritage, with a focus on New England's iconic coastal cuisine.

We are looking for a Full-time Bartender who is passionate about hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences. You will be the face of our restaurant, responsible for guiding guests through our beverage menu, taking orders, and ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests as they arrive or move through the bar area
• Maintain proper and adequate bar setup on a daily basis
• Guide guests through the beverage menu using descriptive selling techniques
• Accurately take orders, confirming all special requests
• Demonstrate strong product knowledge to enhance guest interaction and experience
• Collaborate with servers, kitchen staff, and bar team members
• Address guest concerns and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
• Provide timely and accurate check presentation to finalize the guest experience
• Requisition and stock all beer, wine, and spirits
• Maintain, prepare, and store fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables to ensure quality
• Mix, garnish, and serve drinks according to standard recipes and portion control guidelines
• Enter orders into the POS system and create checks for each guest
• Secure the bar at closing, including locking and storing inventory, handling cash drops, and balancing the bank

Requirements

• Previous bartending or hospitality experience required
• Knowledge of standard drink recipes, spirits, beer, and wine
• Neat, professional appearance with a pleasant personality
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
• Ability to maintain professional composure in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to provide excellent guest service
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Basic math and cash-handling skills
• Ability to read room numbers, dates, and follow basic instructions
• Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate
• Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods
• Ability to lift, carry, and position loads of at least 25 lbs
• Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must meet local and state requirements for serving alcohol (age and certifications as applicable)
