About the Role

The bartender provides prompt and courteous service to ensure guests have an enjoyable experience. They serve high-quality beverages while maintaining the cleanliness and guest-ready appearance of the outlet.

Character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential, and potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and consistently maintain a guest-ready working area and supplies.
  • Prepare and serve drinks as requested by guests.
  • Process guest charges and gratuities in accordance with standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain safety and security practices, including thorough knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Ensure guests are provided with the highest quality product and service.
  • Maintain certification from a brand-approved responsible vendor training program.
  • Regularly monitor and manage liquor inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, provided the associate is capable.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in a food and beverage position; experience with chain food and retail outlets preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Food Handling and Alcohol Safety certifications preferred.
  • Ability to perform major life activities: standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating.
  • Ability to push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, and reach.
  • Must be able to see, hear, and communicate effectively with guests and associates.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages and verifying guest eligibility.
  • Familiarity with menu items, preparation methods, and beverage choices.
  • Understanding of various types of alcoholic beverages, trends, and cocktail preparation.
  • Knowledge of brand standards of operation.
  • Awareness of local shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions to assist guests.
  • Familiarity with daily hotel operations, including events, bulletin boards, and procedural updates.
  • Knowledge of the entire property, including staff, services, hours of operation, room types, locations, rates, and discounts.
  • Computer literacy to operate the property management system: posting charges, computing bills, collecting payments, and making change.
  • Ability to sell, suggest, and serve quality food and beverage items per standards.
  • Strong multitasking skills while maintaining a guest- and associate-centric focus.
  • Professionalism in resolving guest issues while maintaining a hospitable attitude.
  • Ability to market and promote to increase exposure and sales.
  • Teamwork in cleaning, side work, food preparation, and storage.

Working Conditions

  • This position requires a physical presence at the hotel and is not conducive to telecommuting or remote work.
  • Standing and walking for long periods while maintaining a friendly, professional image.
  • May be required to work any day or shift, including weekends.
