Become part of the Playhouse’s Special Events team and help bring extraordinary evenings to life - from intimate donor receptions of 20 guests to dazzling Opening Night celebrations with 500 arts lovers.
Responsibilities
- Deliver warm, high-quality service to donors, patrons, partners, and VIPs throughout each event.
- Mix classic cocktails, pour beer and wine, and craft crowd-pleasing beverages with accuracy and flair.
- Keep things moving: maintain an efficient pace, minimize wait times, and support smooth event flow.
- Partner with the Special Events team to communicate low stock, request replenishment, and ensure bars run seamlessly.
- Measure pours and mix drinks to standard serving sizes unless otherwise directed.
- Collaborate with fellow bartenders to support strong teamwork at each bar location.
- Check IDs, monitor guest intoxication, and uphold Playhouse and CA ABC service policies.
- Set up and break down bars - alcohol, glassware, garnishes, napkins, and everything in between.
- Retrieve ice from our on-site restaurant and assist with restocking as needed.
Qualifications
- California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
- 1+ years of bartending experience in elevated, fast-paced event settings.
- Strong knowledge of beer, wine, and classic cocktails; champagne/wine service experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills - you enjoy talking with people and making them feel welcome.
- Evening availability for scheduled events (mostly nights/weekends).
- A genuine passion for the arts - especially theatre!
