About the Role
Bartenders serve curated beverages to guests and assist in all aspects of front-of-house (FOH) operations, including running food and drink, clearing tables, and greeting guests. They exemplify the company’s core values, connecting with guests professionally to ensure excellence in service.
Responsibilities
- Arrive to work with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and prepared for the shift.
- Know table and position numbers in all sections of the restaurant.
- Maintain complete knowledge of house classic cocktails, including specs, ingredients, brands, flavor profiles, and allergens.
- Set up the bar station efficiently, ensuring mise en place meets standards for service.
- Serve alcoholic beverages only to guests over 21, checking IDs without exception.
- Monitor alcohol service to prevent over-intoxication; involve management if needed.
- Follow service expectations outlined in the service manual.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment in the Bar Lab.
- Clean and reset work areas to zero when necessary.
- Know product specifications, including ingredients, descriptions, sourcing, brands, and allergens.
- Operate the POS system and use heightened awareness for allergy tables, coding according to standards.
- Check in with staff in your workspace upon arrival and assist before starting assigned duties.
- Perform bar maintenance (crumbing, refilling waters, clearing/resetting serving ware).
- Report guest complaints to management immediately and follow the five-step complaint resolution process.
- Build relationships with regular guests and maintain good relations with the neighborhood and industry community.
- Comply with sanitation standards and health/legal regulations.
- Complete weekly, opening, and closing cleaning duties.
- Respond to Slack communication within a reasonable timeframe (minimum: before your next shift).
- Handle gift certificate transactions and complete all required documentation.
- Maintain flexible availability, including early mornings, late nights, holidays, and staff meetings/tastings.
- Ask for help when needed and take regular bar tests/quizzes (e.g., monthly Time Trials) for growth.
- Pursue ongoing education across all facets of operations (Bar, Kitchen, Service, Coffee, Tea).
- Arrange shift coverage if unable to work (except for sick leave); notify supervisor at least 8 hours prior if coverage fails.
- Act professionally and represent Gin & Luck graciously in all settings.
- Assist in training new hires by guiding them through trails, answering questions, and teaching expectations/standards.

Requirements
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, late nights, holidays, and staff meetings/tastings.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally, stand/sit for 4–8 hours, bend, and move intermittently.

Reporting Structure
Bartenders report to General Managers, Floor Managers, and Head Bartenders, and work collaboratively with other bartenders and barbacks.
