Position Summary
Jimbo's Diner in La Vista, 7101 So. 84th Street, has an excellent opportunity for bartenders in our high volume, full-service restaurant & bar. We are looking for friendly, outgoing, and energetic candidates as this position is responsible for ensuring guests' enjoyment. The Bartender should be organized, able to think and act quickly and effectively while retaining self-composure. Be guest sensitive and possess a sense of timing. Take pride in personal appearance and show dedication to the job. Display integrity and honesty in all aspects of employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome each guest personally using enthusiastic words, tone, and body language.
- Work as a team with all personnel to maintain an effective yet fun atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.
- Work with others to keep all areas clean and stocked to the company’s standards.
- Mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for guests at the bar and dining room following standard recipes.
- Create and collect guest tabs using credit cards or cash.
- Wash and sterilize glassware.
- Anticipate guests’ needs and follow the half-full rule when offering another drink; remain alert of guests’ signals (raising a hand, looking directly at you, etc.), and acknowledge signals.
- Box and take care of to go orders when needed.
- Responsible for serving alcohol and remain aware of guests’ state of intoxication.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Must be at least 19 years of age or older.
- Ability to pass Responsible Beverage Service Training with a score of 90% or better.
- Basic mathematical skills and an ability to handle money and give correct change.
- Possess basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, and familiarity with standard drink recipes.
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must be multi-task oriented.
- Previous experience in the bar industry preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- While performing the functions of this job, an employee must walk, stand, or remain stationary during entire the shift.
- Employee must be able to continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop, and wipe with the potential for slipping or tripping.
- Employees must frequently wash their hands and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
