About the role
The Bartender is responsible for providing guests with excellent service in a timely manner and assisting beverage servers with orders to ensure quality guest service and provide patrons with a favorable gaming experience.
Responsibilities
- Consistently prepares drinks according to Derby City Gaming Downtown recipes and specifications for guests and fulfills cocktail servers’ orders in a timely manner.
- Responsible for cleanliness of the bar area.
- Assists with inventory control, stocking, and proper rotation of product.
- Prepares and sells all drinks on the menu and handles all transactions in accordance with cash handling policy.
- Responsible for set up and breakdown of bar area as well as side work and projects as necessary.
- Knowledge of sanitation and health department regulations for safe handling of alcohol.
- Ensures the safety and security of Team Members and guests.
- Performs “responsible alcohol service” with regards to guest limitations and passes any/all responsible alcohol service training.
- Interacts and speaks with guests to maintain great guest relations and provide opportunities for loyalty.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of all bar equipment, cash registers, and the company’s beverage system.
- Maintains interpersonal working relationships among all personnel.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and handle high-pressure, high-volume demands.
- Black non-slip shoes required.
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Two or more years of experience bartending preferred.
- Ability to obtain a valid Racing License.

Pay
This position pays $10.00 per hour on Friday and Saturday, and $15.00 per hour Sunday through Thursday. The bartender is also eligible to receive tips.
