Bartender

Bar Daphne, the signature bar at the new Hotel Daphne, is building a passionate and hospitality-driven team to bring it to life. We are seeking dynamic individuals who will capture the essence of this neighborhood and join our team as a Bartender.

Located in the charming Houston Heights neighborhood, Hotel Daphne is the latest project from Austin’s acclaimed hospitality group Bunkhouse Hotels. With 49 rooms, it’s an inviting escape in a residential neighborhood on the rise. Hotel Daphne features an all-day restaurant and bar, a library/small private events space, and a lobby retail shop signature to the Bunkhouse brand.

Responsibilities

• Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons
• Mix ingredients to prepare and garnish cocktails and other beverages according to Bunkhouse standards
• Serve snacks or food items to customers as requested or submit order to kitchen
• Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
• Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays
• Help plan and organize the menu and operations of the cocktail lounge or bar
• Ensure immediate response is given to all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor of concerns
• Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
• Balance receipts and ensure payment is received from guests
• Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons
• Order or requisition liquors and supplies
• Ask customers who become loud and unruly to leave
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
• Perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed, based on fluctuating demands of the operation

Requirements

• Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

• Able to perform the essential functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting quality standards
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
• Must be able to sit, stand, and squat frequently
