Bartender

About the role

Boxcar is a unique bar and entertainment venue located in Durham, NC. We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic bartender to join our team. Our mission is to provide a welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy great drinks, engaging games, and friendly service.

Responsibilities

• Make great drinks, fast, handling high-volume service accurately across our extensive menu.
• Host parties and engage guests, ensuring they have a fantastic experience.
• Know the menu inside and out, able to craft beer, cocktails, shots, and non-alcoholic options.
• Bring the fun by participating in events and theme nights, dressing appropriately and contributing to the ambiance.
• Do the dirty work, including keg changes, line cleaning, fruit prep, restocking, mopping, and managing inventory/tabs with precision.

Requirements

• No a**holes. Kindness, honesty, integrity, and consideration are non-negotiable.
• One team, one dream. We operate without silos or passing the buck; pitch in and help out, even if it's not your core responsibility.
• Availability. Ready to work weekends, closing shifts, private events, and holidays as needed.
• Reliability. Show up, on time, every time.
• Physically ready. 8-hour shifts on your feet, able to lift 40 lbs.
• Certification. Cicerone Certified Beer Server and/or ServSafe Alcohol Certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience. Several years of experience in high-volume bars or nightclubs.
• Conscientiousness. Take the job seriously but maintain a sense of humor.
• Genuine hospitability. Like people and show it in your work.
• Availability. Ready to work weekends, closing shifts, private events, and holidays as the business needs.
• Reliability. Full stop. Show up, on time, every time.
• Physically ready. 8-hour shifts on your feet, able to lift 40 lbs.
• Certification. Cicerone Certified Beer Server and/or ServSafe Alcohol Certifications are a plus.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience and performance.

Schedule

Shifts typically run from 5 PM to 2 AM, with some flexibility based on business needs.
