About the role

This Barrel Cellar Operator IV position, based at our Columbia Crest Winery facility in Paterson, WA, involves operating all processing equipment used in the production of red and white wines. While primarily supporting the day shift, this role requires flexibility to work variable shifts and extended hours during peak season.

Responsibilities

  • Operate destemmer/crusher, rotary fermenters, presses, and forklift
  • Perform chemical additions and complete work orders
  • Assist in directing Grade II, III, and temporary cellar workers as assigned by department winemakers and supervisors
  • Interact with other departments to ensure correct processing
  • Perform weekly safety checks
  • Perform light mechanical duties
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Minimum of one year experience in wine processing or related field/industry preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in wine processing or related industry
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Able to operate processing equipment and qualify for other equipment as necessary
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to follow work orders and written instructions
  • Moderate mechanical ability
  • Certified or able to certify in forklift operation
  • Able to interact effectively with others and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, including shift work, overtime, and extended hours during harvest
  • Able to handle heavy physical labor, including bending, squatting, standing for long periods, and climbing stairs, catwalks, and ladders
  • History of responsible use of alcohol and fitness to be licensed, permitted, or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies

Pay

$21.89 - $28.45/hour, based on relevant experience. Individual offers depend on a candidate's prior experience and education level as it pertains to the role.
