About the role
The Hawaii State Department of Education seeks to hire a Special Education Elementary Teacher Grades K-5. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board and have special education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
- Exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions.

Requirements
- Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
- Desired Experience: Special education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.
- Desired Knowledge: Plan and facilitate IEP meetings; exercise independent and professional judgment; maintain an effective work pace under pressure; grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively; work effectively with others.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (with the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions).
- Must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department.
- Must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements within 3 years of employment.
- Must have a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire.

- Compensation: 10-month teachers are compensated according to the applicable Bargaining Unit 05 10-month salary schedule for working a 10-month work year.
