Role Description This is a part-time, on-site role for a Barber or Cosmetologist based at The Avenue by Johnny Blackbeard in Lancaster, PA. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing haircuts, styling, shaves, and grooming services according to client preferences and current trends. The role involves consulting with clients about desired looks, recommending suitable products and services, and ensuring a clean, sanitized workstation and tools. The Barber or Cosmetologist will manage appointment schedules, support walk-in clients, handle basic point-of-sale transactions, and contribute to maintaining a friendly, professional atmosphere. Team members are expected to follow all health and safety guidelines, uphold the studio’s service standards, and participate in occasional promotional or community events. Qualifications Current state license as a Barber or Cosmetologist in Pennsylvania, with demonstrated proficiency in hair cutting, styling, and grooming techniques. Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to actively listen, provide consultative recommendations, and build long-term client relationships. Commitment to hygiene and safety standards, including proper sanitation of tools, adherence to regulatory requirements, and maintenance of a clean work area. Professional demeanor, punctuality, and reliability, with the ability to work part-time shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed. Interest in current style trends and ongoing professional development; experience with retail product recommendations or sales is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also managing individual appointments and responsibilities independently.
