About the Role

A Barback assists Bartenders with opening and closing duties, maintains clean bars, and ensures stocking and cleanliness of silverware, glassware, and dishes for a high-volume restaurant and/or nightlife bar. This role requires working efficiently and professionally while delivering superior guest service.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests courteously and politely.
  • Maintain line of sight and atmosphere control by circulating through the work area throughout the shift.
  • Provide professional and friendly guest services.
  • Adhere to all TC Restaurant Group Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Keep the bar top clean and free of dirty glasses, ashtrays, and trash.
  • Maintain a clean and organized back bar.
  • Complete nightly, weekly, and opening/running/closing duties.
  • Maintain opening/closing liquor, beer, wine, and consumables par levels.
  • Ensure proper rotation of all liquor, beer, wine, and consumable items.
  • Clean spills and waste immediately; sweep and mop as needed.
  • Place all trash in proper receptacles.
  • Assist with loading/unloading miscellaneous equipment, such as boxes, food, and beverage products.
  • Ensure all stocking is complete and report any shortages.
  • Polish and wash glassware throughout the shift; prepare mixes and garnishes.
  • Recognize and acknowledge intoxicated or disruptive guests and bring them to a manager’s attention.
  • Comply with all safety, health department, and state/federal liquor laws.
  • Report incidents of theft, vandalism, violations, or guest complaints.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • 21+ years of age.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain all state-required work cards.
  • Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance adhering to company standards.
  • Ability to use business applications for communication (e.g., email, chat/text messaging).
  • Knowledge of basic bar and restaurant operations, including liquor, beer, and wine brand names.
  • Knowledge of drink recipes and proper garnish, cutting, and presentation.
  • Understanding of proper lifting techniques, inventory, and stock rotation.
  • Experience in high-volume bar, restaurant, and nightlife operations.

Work Environment

  • Work includes indoor and/or outdoor areas with exposure to high and low temperatures.
  • Work environment may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, or confined (e.g., small areas with 3 ft. access).
  • Tasks may require bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, and working in non-sitting or sitting positions.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 20 pounds.
  • Constant contact with guests and team members.
  • Exposure to environmental factors such as second-hand smoke, excessive noise, flashing/strobe lights, and fast-paced stress levels.

Schedule

  • Work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Schedule may exceed 30 hours per week, including overtime as approved by management.
