Barback

About the role

We are seeking a Barback to join our world-class hospitality brigade at Maxime’s, a private member’s club on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. The Barback supports Bartenders with all preparation aspects, restocking, and maintaining cleanliness, while working closely with front- and back-of-house team members to uphold the standards of the bar program and create a welcoming atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the bar for service by filling wells with ice, preparing fruit trays, restocking beer, liquor, wine, glassware, and juices, and stocking trash cans and towels.
• Properly rotate products and ensure perishable items are labeled.
• Regularly check draught beers to ensure kegs are functional and change kegs as needed in accordance with safety standards.
• Adhere to all Department of Health and Safety standards related to food and beverage handling, hygiene, and alcohol service.
• Maintain a professional, upbeat demeanor and embrace a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• Uphold superior service standards and ensure guest satisfaction in a high-end environment.

Requirements

• Proven success as a Barback or Beverage Support within fine dining, Michelin-star establishments, or luxury hotel settings.
• Knowledge of bar service as well as culinary concepts and terminology.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
• TIPS certification required.
• Ability to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, per the needs of the business.
