Position Summary
The Bartender provides bar service to Club members and guests by ensuring an exceptional experience. They will be able to create classic and innovative drinks exceeding customers’ needs and expectations. Maintains general standards of stocking glassware, liquor, beer, wine, and miscellaneous bar supplies.
Responsibilities
- Greet members and guests by name whenever possible and be attentive to their needs.
- Exhibits and maintains a professional and upbeat demeanor to reflect a positive and welcoming image of Boca Woods Country Club.
- Inventory processes including requisitions, receiving, moving and stocking product in accordance with First In, First Out (FIFO).
- Inspects bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available.
- Maintains proper inventory levels of bar stock and requisitions liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and other supplies, including glassware, ice, and bar snacks.
- Properly open and pour wine at the table.
- Restocks and cleans as instructed, including side work for opening and closing of the restaurant.
- Stocks appropriate glassware for all shifts and notifies Lead Bartender of any shortages.
- Keeps glassware polished and clean.
- Prepares garnishes, mixes and pre-mixed drinks.
- Must have knowledge of common mixed drinks, recipes, liquors and wines.
- Measures drinks according to club’s policy.
- Flexibility to work in all areas of Food and Beverage where needed. Ability to bartend all fine dining and special events.
- Mixes, prepares and serves drinks to members and guests and mixes and prepares drinks ordered by food servers and beverage servers according to the recipes approved by Boca Woods Country Club.
- Rings up checks for drinks served and presents accurate receipts to members and guests.
- Maintains and cleans bar area, counter tops and equipment.
- Maintains bar sanitation procedures.
- Reports member and guest complaints to a manager as soon as they occur.
- Carefully follows all laws and club policies and procedures regarding alcoholic beverage service and informs manager if continued service to a member or guest is in question.
- Serves drinks to members and guests seated at lounge tables in the absence of a server.
- Continually practices beverage and revenue control procedures.
- Communicates with members, coworkers, vendors, and guests in a professional and courteous manner. Thanks members and guests; invites them to return.
- Operates, maintains and cleans the Cappuccino and Espresso machine.
- Keeps bar lounge neat and always organized including tables, barstools and chairs.
- Daily, verifies that juices and bar trays are fresh.
- Maintains full knowledge of menus and pertinent information such as daily specials.
- Keeps silverware roll-ups at the bar in case a member/guest wishes to dine at bar.
- Maintains records of liquors, beers and wine to ensure stock in maintained at all times.
- Maintains daily inventory and records indication drinks in the greatest demand.
- Performs bar opening and closing duties including side work to ensure operational efficiency.
- Attends staff meetings including pre-shift meetings as required.
- Reports to work as scheduled, in uniform and ready to work.
- Performs other appropriate duties assigned by the Lead Bartender, F&B Manager, & F&B Director.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be ServSafe and TIPS Certified.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Able to work and make decisions independently.
- Able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and some holidays.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm, professional and positive demeanor.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk or hear, taste or smell.
- The employee is frequently required to walk.
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience.
