About the Role

Under general direction from the Restaurant Services Supervisor, assists the Bartender or prepares items for wait staff in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner. Ensures customers meet age requirements for the purchase of alcohol products.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes positive customer relations, greets customers, and creates a friendly atmosphere.
  • Fills ice for all the wells.
  • Prepares fruit trays and ensures backup garnishes are available.
  • Restocks the bar with beer, liquor, wine, glassware, juices, etc., and rotates products.
  • Checks draught beers to ensure they are working and not empty; changes kegs when necessary.
  • Manages trash removal, including getting trashcans and towels as needed.
  • Ensures the bar is clean before opening and maintains cleanliness throughout the shift.
  • Maintains all beverage-dispensing units in the bar, ensuring they are full and operational.
  • Assists the bartender with inventory of bar supplies.
  • Promotes and takes drink orders, reciting selection of call and premium brands from memory.
  • Prepares and serves cocktails and other beverages accurately and without waste.
  • Inputs orders at the point of sale, creates checks for customers, and maintains accountability for all beverages served.
  • Presents accurate checks to guests in a timely manner and thanks patrons.
  • Cleans up after customers at the bar and maintains an orderly work area.
  • Maintains proper bar setup, including washing glassware and utensils after each use.
  • Serves food to customers seated at the bar as requested.
  • Responds to customer questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
  • Attends and participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Follows guidelines regarding alcohol service, safety, and customer service according to established regulations and policies.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (may be waived by Human Resources Management).
  • Minimum of six (6) months of guest service experience.
  • Food and Beverage experience preferred.
  • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification required.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, guest service, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and obtain and maintain a gaming license.

Skills

  • Knowledge of restaurant operations and food service principles.
  • Knowledge of bartending, bar maintenance, and customer service.
  • Knowledge of all bar items and liquors.
  • Knowledge of POS systems.
  • Knowledge of basic math and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of local and state alcohol beverage laws.
  • Skill in interpersonal and customer relations.
  • Ability to create a friendly atmosphere and demonstrate excellent customer service.
  • Ability to operate a cash register.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods, walk, sit, use hands for dexterity, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must have normal auditory, visual acuity, and verbal communication skills.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Work is generally performed indoors and outdoors with frequent public contact.
  • Exposure to second-hand smoke, moderate/high noise levels, dirt, dust, and unpleasant odors.
  • May work in areas that are unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky, or dimly lit.
  • May be required to maneuver outside in extreme temperatures (115°F to 15°F).
  • Prolonged sitting, walking, or extended work hours, including swing shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends, may be required.
