About the role
Hotel Equities, a leading hotel development and hospitality management company, seeks a Banquet Setup Specialist for the Hilton Frontenac in Saint Louis, MO. The position involves setting-up and breaking down functions in a safe, accident-free manner.
Responsibilities
- Provide warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance to guests.
- Ensure uniforms are clean and wrinkle-free, with appropriate undergarments and black non-slip shoes.
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards.
- Read and understand BEOs and know all necessary equipment for set-up.
- Set tables correctly and uniformly with proper equipment.
- Prepare and maintain buffets with food presentation and table prep.
- Keep buffet stations neat and clean while serving guests.
- Assist Banquet Captain with setup and breakdown of buffet or special food service tables and equipment.
- Greet and serve guests according to policies and procedures.
- Complete assigned paperwork and perform side work during and after events.
- Organize and stock products during downtime and prepare for next day’s events.
- Return equipment to proper areas, wipe down and keep banquet areas neat and clean.
- Dispose of leftover food properly and label, date, and store saved food items.
- Ensure banquet areas are ready for the next day’s business.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt processes and standards.
- Thorough knowledge of catering and food professions.
- Supervision/management skills.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Moderate hearing to hear equipment timers and communicate with others.
- Excellent vision to ensure product preparation is appropriate.
- Moderate speech communication skills for interaction with staff.
- Moderate comprehension and literacy to read and understand BEOs.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry, bend, stand, and travel as needed.
- Passionate about people and service.
- Strong communication skills for interactions with guests and employees.
- Basic math skills for handling cash or credit.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities.
- The ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
