Banquet Set Up/ Houseperson

The Banquet Set-up position is responsible for safely and efficiently setting up banquet equipment and layout as specified by the client. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull heavy furniture for the majority of the shift. This position provides excellent customer service with a smile, exceeding client set-up needs by paying attention to details.

Responsibilities

• Lift, carry, push, pull up to 75 lbs of equipment and furniture
• Know hotel layout and storage areas for the Food & Beverage Department
• Be familiar with A/V equipment—both in-house and outside vendor’s
• Maintain all banquet rooms and closets to ensure they are organized and clean
• Read and comprehend BEO (Banquet Event Order) information
• Complete room set-up according to BEO, ensuring the meeting room is clean, neatly set, and ready for the client at least 1 hour prior to arrival; place door sign for the event and sign off on the BEO
• Break down and/or “flip” banquet rooms and store equipment at the conclusion of events (clear tables for specified functions, down to the bare table, and reset for the following day)
• Turn off all lights, adjust AC/heat, and lock all doors and closets at the end of the shift
• Inspect banquet room equipment daily (e.g., lights, tables, chairs) and inform the department head of broken or missing equipment

Requirements

• Previous serving and/or experience setting up banquets preferred
• Familiarity and comfort with operating A/V equipment (both in-house and outside vendor equipment is helpful)
